There’s music in the air……and a lot more in the future for the beautiful plains of the Texas panhandle.
A new project is being planned in the Texas panhandle community of Perryton where music and the arts have taken on a new life. In this community of some 8500 people The Conservatory of the Plains campus will accommodate full time and part time students who wish to further their education through on-line accredited courses and personal tutoring. A Film School, a Digital Media School with a state-of-the-art recording studio, and Theater and Performing Arts will also be offered for those considering a vocation in other areas of the Entertainment Industry.
All genres of music including classical, jazz, big band, rock, blue grass, gospel and country will be taught and performed with emphasis on restoring access to much of the arts curriculum being dropped from the public schools all across the country. The Conservatory of the Plains will reach out to surrounding communities and neighboring states in an effort to provide concentrated studies in music, theater, dance, and other artistic disciplines to all ages, beginning in the elementary schools and extending through high school and beyond, even to preparing students of any age for a career in teaching or performance. For younger students, this would be accomplished through after school, weekend, holiday and summer vacation periods and by offering instruction as an enhancement to any existing programs or as elective courses in the public schools. Besides providing quality education, the project will provide a constant source of live entertainment in association with the newly renovated Ellis Theater and Performing Arts Center with both local and national performing artists.
